  • MXC & WXC Studnet-Athletes Set Career-Bests at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Fall Classic

    ST LOUIS, Mo. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Fall Classic yesterday afternoon. The men's cross country notables were Brennan Guido and Thomas Shaw. Guido finished 12th place with a time of 27:13:2. Shaw set a new career-best crossing the finish line at 30:50.3. On the women's side, two SMWC runners finished in the Top 10 of the 5K race. Kayla Coryea ran a career-best finishing with a 19:16:0 time which notched her a 4th place finish. Freshman Kendyll Schulz recorded a 7th place finish with a time of 20:00:02. Elizabeth Trausch marked a career-best as well with a time of 22:35:4.
  • The Woods Steals a Five-Set Match vs. Illinois Tech

    CHICAGO, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys women's volleyball team traveled to Illinois Tech yesterday afternoon. The Pomeroys defeated the Scarlett Red Hawks in a back and forth five-set match. The Pomeroys won set two, four and the final fifth set 16 to 14. SMWC is now 12-14 on the season and will be back on the court Tuesday, October 23rd against Indiana University-East at 7:00 p.m. 
  • SMWC Finishes Fourth in Final Invitational of the Season

    OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - SMWC finished third of four in the Oakland City Invitational. final. After day one the team was within range to catch IU-Kokomo but could not duplicate the effort on Friday. It was cold, windy and rainy but, the Pomeroys managed some excellent play. Chloe Buerster finished second individually. This gave her finishes of 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in five of the six events. This is more top-five finishes than anyone at SMWC in women's golf history. Katrina Dayhuff in her final outing had a career-best 86 and also career-best two day total of 183. The 83.1 average this year placed Cloe third on the all-time list.
  • Pomeroys Split at the Greenville University Tri-Set

    GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team traveled to Greenville University Saturday afternoon where the Pomeroys split their two contests. In game one the Pomeroys defeated Westminster College in a three-set sweep with a thrilling second set. In game two of the day, the Pomeroys lost to Greenville University in three close sets. SMWC moves 11-14 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, October 20th at Illinois Institute of Technology. 
  • Pomeroys Downed by #5 Missouri Baptist University

    ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team traveled to Missouri Baptist University yesterday night where the Pomeroys were swept by the now 22-2 Spartans. The Pomeroys hold a 10-13 record and will be back in action on Saturday, October 13th in Greenville, Illinois, for a tri-set.
  • SMWC Makes History; Men's Golf Captures First-Ever USCAA National Title

    STATE COLLEGE, Penn. - High expectations were set for the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team and, in a sense, nothing short of a win at the 2018 USCAA Men's Golf National Championships would be acceptable. SMWC claimed its first USCAA National Title in program history and did so in a dominating fashion! The Pomeroys shot its best 36-hole team score of the season as they finished Day 2 with a 569 (-2). Individually, Colton Kuppler finished as USCAA Individual National Champion Runner-Up with a two-day score of 138 (-6). Benjamin Myers finished in third place shooting a 139 (-5) and Nathan Higbie tied for sixth place with a 144 (+1).
  • Men's Golf Shatters School Record; Pomeroys Lead Big After Day 1 of the USCAA National Championships

    STATE COLLEGE, Penn. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team has placed itself in spectacular position after Day 1 of the USCAA Men's Golf National Championships at the Penn State Blue Course. The Pomeroys sit in first place and lead the defending 2017 USCAA National Champion SUNY Delphi by a whopping eight strokes. SMWC shot its best 18-hole score in school history as they concluded with a 283 (-5). The Woods has four player's in the Top 10 who each have a legitimate shot at winning the USCAA Individual National Championship; Colton Kuppler 70 (-2), Benjamin Myers 70 (-2), Nathan Higbie 71 (-1), and Samuel Grimes 72 (E). 
  • Western EQ Takes Reserve High Point Team in Both AM/PM Shows

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College western equestrian team finished Reserve High Point Team in both shows this past Saturday. The Woods had six first-place winners including Saige Woodford, Rylee Fritsch, Hannah Feuquay, Morgan Nobbe, and Kasey Thiel.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team defeated Fontbonne University this afternoon in front of the Pomeroys largest crowd all season long. SMWC won three sets to one to hit the double-digit win mark for the fourth straight season. The Woods will be back on the court on Tuesday, October 9th as they travel to Missouri Baptist University.

The Pomeroys found a way to pull way in set five which was the difference in the contest. The Woods improves to 9-12 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, against Fontbonne University at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The tournament is scheduled for October 7-9 in State College, Pennsylvania. The Penn State Blue Course will be the host golf course for the event.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - Two weeks ago, the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Director of Facilities Josh Wood announced the Facilities Department would sponsor a First Impression Contest. The contest would allow students, faculty, and staff to submit ideas on the areas they believe SMWC can enhance the overall sweeping look of the campus. Today, a $3,000.00 check was presented to the SMWC Softball team because of their brilliant ideas.
  • Buerster Is Individual Medalist at Trinity Christian College Troll Classic

    HOMEWOOD, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College finished second to Judson University at the Trinity University Invitational today. The event was hosted at the Calumet Country Club. SMWC shot a 383 to claim second place one shot out first. They were led by Chloe Buerster who shot 85 to claim individual medalist honors. She was seven shots better than the second place individual.

    KOKOMO, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team shot a 749 two-day total to finish at the Indiana University-Kokomo Invitational. The Pomeroys were led by an excellent tee to green play by Chloe Buerster. Buerster received more hardware with a fourth-place finish. 
  • Pomeroys Swept by the MU Knights

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team could not hold of to its winning streak as they were defeated by Marian University. The Knights swept the Pomeroys (25-9, 25-20, 25-23). The Woods recorded is now 8-12 on the season while they will host Hanover College on October 4th. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
  • WXC Notches Fourth Place at H.W. Wright Classic 6K; Schulz and Coryea Finish Top 10

    DECATUR, Ill.  – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team took fourth place this evening at the H.W. Wright Classic 6K hosted by Millikin University. As a team, the Pomeroys scored 93 points. The Woods had two runners finish in the Top 10. Kendyll Schulz finished 7th place with a time of 24:30. Kayla Coryea notched a 9th place spot with a time of 24:35. Emily Truax and Claire Loebker concluded the race with a 22nd and 27th place finish. Truax ran a 25:28 and Loebker ran a 25:48.
  • Men's XC Takes Fifth Place at H.W. Wright Classic 8K

    DECATUR, Ill.  – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's cross country team finished fifth place this evening at the H.W. Wright Classic 8K hosted by Millikin University. As a team, the Pomeroys scored 152 points. The Woods was led by Brennan Guido with a time of 27:12 which notched him an 11th place finish! Jordan Love concluded the race with a time of 28:20 and 27th place. Parker Nuest ran a 28:35 which earned him a 30th place spot. SMWC's Top Five times average out to a 28:57.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team won its third match in-a-row tonight against Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Woods swept the Crimson Wave (25-15, 25-19, 25-23) to its eighth victory of the year. The Pomeroys will face NAIA powerhouse Marian University tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Pomeroys have won four-straight games and have outscored its opponents 10-to-5 in the last four contests.   • Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team faced Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology today on its senior day. The Pomeroys lost 5-0, despite the loss, SMWC honored its seniors for all they have done for the women's soccer program. The seniors included Jasmine Peoples, Ashleigh Pflum, and Haley Schuler. These three student-athletes have given their heart and soul to The Woods and it served for a bittersweet day. SMWC will be back on the pitch on Tuesday, October 9th versus Oakland City University. First touch is set for 4:00 p.m. EST.

The Pomeroys swept the Ravens (28-26, 25-6, 25-20) to earn their seventh win of the season. The Woods will see the court at home against Calumet College of St. Joseph on Friday, September 28. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST.

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer team matched up in a physical battle against Grace Christian University today. The Pomeroys and Tigers were scoreless as they entered halftime. Armon Glenn was the games savior as he scored two goals which gave The Woods its first home victory in school history. Andrew Aceituno was the winning goalie as he shutout the GCU Tigers. SMWC has won three games in-a-row and will be back on the pitch on Thursday, September 27th, against Harris Stowe State University. First touch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST.

    FRANKLIN, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team split this weekend at its tri-match against Wilmington College and Boyce College. The Pomeroys lost in a five-set battle to Wilmington College (26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 26-24, 10-15) but bounced back in game two and swept Boyce College (25-13, 25-11, 25-16). The Woods will prepare for a three-game home stretch against Anderson University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, and NAIA powerhouse Marian University.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team finished in seventh place in an eleven team field at the Grace Bible College Invitational. Chloe Buerster placed ninth individually shooting an 84. On the day, SMWC defeated fellow USCAA opponent Cleary University by 13 strokes.
  • Women's Soccer Edged by the Oaks

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team played closely with NCAA Division II Oakland City University yesterday afternoon. The Pomeroys and Oaks were both scoreless for the first 86 minutes of the game until OCU scored the go-ahead goal. SMWC could not score in the final minutes and lost 1-0. The Woods will travel to Fontbonne College on Sunday, September 23rd.

    GORDYVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College western equestrian team finished Reserve High Point Team in both shows this past Saturday at Eastern Illinois University. The Woods had six first-place winners including Kindra Gingerich, Morgan Nobbe, Caroline Gadlage, Jennifer Melton, Arin Herman, and Kasey Thiel. The Pomeroys will be back in the stables on October 6th, at home. The first event is set to begin at 9:00 p.m.
