Four-in-a-Row; SMWC Softball Stays Sharp
SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind.– The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College softball team continued their winning ways in two run-rule fashion victories against MacMurray College. The Pomeroys defeated the Highlanders 8-0 and 9-1, they have won four-straight games.

GAME ONE | VS. MACMURRAY COLLEGE | WON 8-0 (FIVE INNINGS)

Taylor Andrew did not allow a single run as the Pomeroys run ruled MacMurray College 8-0 in game one. Andrew allowed just three hits. The Woods opened up scoring in the first inning when Baylee Waters hit s SAC fly that scored Hollie Jones who earlier hit a double. SMWC scored three runs in the third inning when Christian Chambers, Paige McClain, and Hollie Jones powered the big inning with RBI's. Andrew led the team to victory on the mound as she went five innings, allowed zero runs, and struck out five batters. Overall, the Pomeroys did not commit an error. Young led the in both hits and put-outs with seven.


GAME TWO | VS. MACMURRAY COLLEGE | WON 9-1 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Pomeroys run-ruled MacMurray College for the second time of the day in a 9-1 victory. SMWC fired up the offensively in the first inning when Kelsey Young doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat which scored two runs. The Woods would add four more runs in the second inning. Paige McClain and Hollie Jones each drove in runs during the inning. Christian Chambers was the winning pitcher for the Woods. She allowed one run and struck out two batters. Haley Stewart took the loss for the Highlanders. McClain led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Jones tallied eight put-outs which led all fielders.

The SMWC softball team will take on #2 ranked NAIA Marian University tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. EST.
