Pomeroys Fail to Take Down #2 Marian University

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind.– The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College softball team could not manage a hit against the #2 ranked NAIA Marian University pitching staff. The Pomeroys dropped both games of the doubleheader 10-1 and 8-0.

GAME ONE | VS. MARIAN UNIVERSITY | WON 10-1 (SIX INNINGS)

SMWC had trouble keeping up with #2 ranked NAAI Marian University in a 10-1 loss in game one. The Knights scored six runs in the sixth inning. Their big inning was driven by a walk by Kate Hewitt, a groundout by Olivia Hoffman, an error on a ball put in play by Kassidi Cadie and a double by Sadie Baugh. The Pomeroys were blanked in the hits column. Taylor Andrew took the loss on the mound. She surrendered 10 runs on eight hits and struck out two batters. The Knights Marian University scattered eight hits in the game.


GAME TWO | VS. MARIAN UNIVERSITY | WON 8-0 (SIX INNINGS)

Nothing came easy for the Pomeroys in game two as they lost 8-0 in six innings of play. The Knight's Shelby Herron earned the victory as she tossed a no-hitter for five innings while Cassie Perry completed the no-hitter out of the bullpen. Christian Chambers suffered the loss. She gave up nine hits and eight runs while adding four strikeouts. Overall, the Pomeroys did not earn a hit and gave up a total of nine.

The Pomeroys softball team will be back in action on Sunday, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. Join us as they will celebrate Senior Day against Midway University.
