    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball head coach Steve Beeler announced the addition of Lincoln Trail College transfer Mandi Alspach to the 2019-20 incoming recruiting class. Alpach signed her National Letter-of-Intent to play volleyball for The Woods. She will come into the volleyball program and make an immediate impact.
  • SMWC Volleyball Loses USCAA National Championship to Florida National Univeristy

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team ended their season at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex this afternoon. The Pomeroys battled it out with Florida National University in a back and forth dogfight for the 2018 USCAA National Championship trophy. The Woods lost to FNU in four sets: 17-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-22. Despite the loss, McKenzi Kumpf, Gabriella Slagle, and Monica Mack were named to the USCAA All-Tournament Team.
  • SMWC Volleyball Is Heading to the USCAA Volleyball National Championship

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - With the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball victory today, the team will be returning to the USCAA National Championship game for the fourth season in-a-row. The Pomeroys swept #4 seed Silver Lake College this afternoon (25-12, 25-14, 25-14) which means they concluded Pool Play undefeated. SMWC will face Florida National University at 12:30 p.m. for the National Title.
  • Volleyball Goes Undefeated on Day One of the USCAA National Championships

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team battled it out in the USCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Championship Pool Play today. The Pomeroys earned two wins on day one against #1 seed the University of Maine-Fort Kent and #2 seed Florida National University. SMWC's first game against Florida National was a thrilling five-set match victory as The Woods took sets one, three, and the final fifth to come out on top. In game two, against Maine Fort Kent, the Pomeroys found themselves down one set but battled back to win three-sets in-a-row to tally its 17th win of the season.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball program stole the show at tonight's 2018 USCAA National Awards Banquet. The Pomeroys notched USCAA First and Second Team All-American spots, USCAA National All-Academic honors, and the Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year award as a team. Five separate player's: McKenzi Kumpf, Gabriella Slagle, Monica Mack, Pamela Dorman, and Kelcie Basan walked away with very well deserved awards.
  • Senior Day Success; Pomeroys Down the Cougars

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team sent the seniors out with an impressive victory on Senior Day. The Pomeroys swept the University of Cincinnati Clermont 25-12, 25-12, and 25-13. Mary Alvanos, Monica Mack, McKenzi Kumpf, and Gabriella Slagle were each joined by there families before the game on the court. Despite the bittersweet emotions, SMWC stayed focus to finish the season 15-15 (.500).
  • SMWC Volleyball Captures #3 Seed in the 2018 USCAA Volleyball National Championships

    NORFOLK, Va. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team has earned a bid to play in the 2018 USCAA Volleyball National Championships. In year four of the program, the Pomeroys have punched their fourth straight trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia. SMWC sits at 14-15 (.483) on the season and will enter the post-season tournament as the #3 seed. After three seasons finishing as the USCAA National Champion Runner-Ups, the Pomeroys volleyball team is determined to end this season as #1. Based on the number of institutions with intent to participate who met internal qualification criteria (.500 winning % or better) the 2018 USCAA Volleyball National Championship will feature just four participants: #1 University of Maine-Fort Kent (24-5), #2 Florida National University (14-15), #3 Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (14-15), #4 Silver Lake College (9-14). With Florida College, the Pomeroys arch enemy not present in this year’s pool, SMWC is highly favored to be the 2018 USCAA Volleyball National Champion.
  • Volleyball Sweeps IU-Northwest Behind A 15-Kill Performance by Slagle

    SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team dominated the Indiana University-Northwest Red Hawks this afternoon. The Pomeroys swept the 22-8 IU-Northwest. In set one, the Pomeroys won convincingly 25-15. In set two, SMWC was forced to display their comeback s25-19kills and won 30-28. In the final set of the day, The Woods beat IU-Northwest 25-19. SMWC improves to 13-15 on the season and will fight to end the regular season at .500.

  • Pomeroys Lose A Tight Five-Set Match

    RICHMOND, Ind. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys women's volleyball team battled the Indiana University-East Red Wolves last night. IU-East jumped out to a two-set lead before the Pomeroys caught fire and forced a fifth set. In set five, SMWC had a 6-5 lead but then lost their senior middle blocker, Monica Mack, due to a facial injury. At this point, SMWC took a downward spiral and could not regroup. The Woods lost 15-8 and are now 12-15 on the year.
  • The Woods Steals a Five-Set Match vs. Illinois Tech

    CHICAGO, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys women's volleyball team traveled to Illinois Tech yesterday afternoon. The Pomeroys defeated the Scarlett Red Hawks in a back and forth five-set match. The Pomeroys won set two, four and the final fifth set 16 to 14. SMWC is now 12-14 on the season and will be back on the court Tuesday, October 23rd against Indiana University-East at 7:00 p.m.

    GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team traveled to Greenville University Saturday afternoon where the Pomeroys split their two contests. In game one the Pomeroys defeated Westminster College in a three-set sweep with a thrilling second set. In game two of the day, the Pomeroys lost to Greenville University in three close sets. SMWC moves 11-14 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, October 20th at Illinois Institute of Technology.

    ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team traveled to Missouri Baptist University yesterday night where the Pomeroys were swept by the now 22-2 Spartans. The Pomeroys hold a 10-13 record and will be back in action on Saturday, October 13th in Greenville, Illinois, for a tri-set.

SMWC won three sets to one to hit the double-digit win mark for the fourth straight season. The Woods will be back on the court on Tuesday, October 9th as they travel to Missouri Baptist University.

The Knights swept the Pomeroys (25-9, 25-20, 25-23). The Woods recorded is now 8-12 on the season while they will host Hanover College on October 4th. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.

    FRANKLIN, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team split this weekend at its tri-match against Wilmington College and Boyce College. The Pomeroys lost in a five-set battle to Wilmington College (26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 26-24, 10-15) but bounced back in game two and swept Boyce College (25-13, 25-11, 25-16). The Woods will prepare for a three-game home stretch against Anderson University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, and NAIA powerhouse Marian University.

    FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Woods women's volleyball team went five-sets last night with the Franklin College Grizzlies. Unfortunately, SMWC ended up on the losing end of the match. The Grizzlies took set five 15-13 to defeat the Pomeroys. SMWC will be back on the court this Saturday in a two-game invite against Wilmington College and Boyce College.

In game one, the Pomeroys defeated Midway University in a grueling five-set match (15-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15, 15-7) but fell in game two of the day against West Virginia Institute of Technology (25-15, 25-18, 25-13). Monica Mack was named All-Tournament team at SMWC Volleyball Classic which is voted on by each head coach. Katelyn Byrd (West Virginia Tech), Kristen Schorr (Oakland City University), and Kylie Flatt (Midway University).

  • Volleyball Splits In Day Two of the Eagle's Invite; Finishes the Weekend 1-3

    Chicago, Ill. - The Pomeroys found their winning way today as they defeated Lincoln College in 4-sets. SMWC was led in game one by McKenzi Kumpf, Gabriella Slagle, and Alexis Woodburn who combined for 30 kills. Against the Robert Morris University Eagles, the volleyball team was swept 3-sets to lose the match despite taking RMU to a 28-26 set-2.
