Volleyball Splits at Wilmington College Tri-Match; Three Home Contests On Tap

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The SMWC women's volleyball team split this weekend at its tri-match against Wilmington College and Boyce College. The Pomeroys lost in a five-set battle to Wilmington College (26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 26-24, 10-15) but bounced back in game two and swept Boyce College (25-13, 25-11, 25-16). The Woods will prepare for a three-game home stretch against Anderson University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, and NAIA powerhouse Marian University.

  • The Woods record has improved to 6-11 on the season after their victory against Boyce College
  • Currently, SMWC is ranked 6th in the USCAA standings
  • Against Wilmington, McKenzi Kumpf recorded 15 kills and a .111 kill %; Kumpf added 13 digs
  • Mary Alvanos tallied 33 assists and 12 digs against WC
  • Versus Boyce, SMWC finished the contest with an incredible . 527 hitting %; highest this season
  • Gabriella Slagle led the team in game two with 12 kills and a whopping .625 hitting %
