SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -- In the ninth edition of This Week In Pomeroy Sports | TWIPS, we want to take a look back at the women's volleyball two winning two contests and the men's soccer team finishing in a draw with NCAA Division II Oakland City University.  We have all of this week's action below!

Catch-up on the Action

Men's Soccer (10-4-1) settled for a tie with Oakland City University (4-10-2) this afternoon as both teams fought tooth and nail, with the match coming down to the very last second. The back and forth affair was chippy at times, with multiple yellow cards shown, as both teams battled to pull out a win.

1st Half: Oakland City struck first when Ian Fierro moved past defenders and was able to net a lower-left corner goal to stun SMWC early (4'). The Woods regrouped and got their head in the game to play smart defense throughout the first half and finish with a 1-0 deficit going into the half.

2nd Half: The Pomeroys came out firing as Edson Alvarado equalized off a beautiful pass from Omar Abdallah Nabilsi (54'). Then, after finding some holes in the Oakland City defense, Omar put the Woods ahead on an unassisted goal just 8 minutes later (62'). Omar was shown a yellow card (75') later as discrepancies over officiating boiled over for both teams. With SMWC leading, OCU's Luis Perez stunned with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute to tie the match and then Oakland City went ahead 3-2 on a goal from Martin Albornoz (88') in the final minutes of the game. The Pomeroy's chances seemed bleak until a perfect through ball from Jose Parra set Omar Abdallah Nabilsi up in front of the goal to tie the game in the 90'.

OT/2OT: Overtime saw a lot of action and fatigue was clear for both teams, but neither could pull out the win and would have to settle for a tie.

Women's Volleyball

Volleyball (9-15) was victorious in two of its three contests this week. The Pomeroys beat Fontbonne University (3-2) and the Calumet College of St. Joseph (3-0) before falling to Indiana University-Northwest (3-1) in the final match of the week.

Against Fontbonne, the Pomeroys stole a five-set match. SMWC won the first two sets before the Griffins battled back to tie the match 2-2. In the final set, SMWC edged Fontbonne 15-13 to earn their eighth win of the season. SMWC was led by Riley Kinney who finished with 15 kills to lead the Pomeroys; she concluded the contest with a .195 hitting percentage. Senior Meagan White added 11 kills with a .064 hitting percentage.

Versus CCSJ, SMWC swept the Crimson Wave (25-16, 25-9, 25-17). The Woods showed their offensive and defensive prowess throughout as they held Calumet College of St. Joseph to just 42 total points. SMWC was led by Riley Kinney who tallied 10 kills on 22 attacks to post a .409 kill %. Mandi Alspach and Jaelyn Fennell both added 10 and eight kills of their own, respectively.

At Indiana University-Northwest, the Pomeroys lost 3-1 (13-25, 13-25, 26-24, 17-25).
