SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - In the 21st edition of This Week In Pomeroy Sports | TWIPS, let us take a look at the women's indoor track and field teams' impressive performance at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Additionally, we will look at the women's basketball very competitive contests against Lincoln College and Midway University. 

We have all of last week's action below.


Women's Basketball

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's basketball lost both contests this week against Lincoln College and Midway University. With its two losses, they now hold a record of 5-15 (.250) and are out of contention for a post-season NCAA tournament bid.

Versus Lincoln College, SMWC fell 89-84. The Pomeroys were led by Mara Canada who scored 17 points and Avalee Jeffers who added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Facing Midway University, SMWC lost the contest 97-83. Paetyn Hayes led the Woods with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Avalee Jeffers scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, and threw three assists.

In the contest against the Eagles, took a pregame moment of silence for Sister Ellen Cunningham, a Sister of Providence who passed away on Wednesday.


Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's and women's track & field traveled crosstown on Saturday to the Engineer Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. In the team standings, the men's squad finished eighth place while the women's team took third place.

SMWC competed against Grace University, Manchester University, Trine University, University of St. Francis (Ind.) and many more.

Upcoming Schedule

Thursday, February 6th

Women's basketball will host River States Conference member Brescia University at 7:00 p.m. ET. The SMWC Athletic Department will honor the 2019 USCAA Women's Cross Country National Champions before the National Anthem.

Friday, February 7th

The men's and women's indoor track & field teams will battle at DePauw University in the Tiger Small College Invitational. The first event will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Saturday, February 8th

Women's basketball will host Welch College at 2:00 p.m. ET.
