Inaugural Men's Soccer Match Ends With A Loss

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The SMWC men's soccer team competed in its inaugural match today against Brescia University. The inaugural contest brought an impressive crowd and the atmosphere was perfect for a day in history. The Pomeroys were edged by Bearcats 2-0 but showed forth an undeniable effort. With five players sidelined, The Woods was forced to display a deep roster and everyone on the bench saw action on the pitch.

How It Happend:

  • Brescia jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Same Coxon scored at the 3-minute mark
  • The Pomeroys trailed 1-0 the entire game until the last minute when Karim Ndoye scored at 89:28 to seal a 2-0 victory
  • Andrew Aceituno displayed his athletic ability recording eight total saves
  • SMWC had many fast break opportunities and chances to score but they could not finish

"Say What"

"It was great to see the team playing together and everyone fought until the end. We had many challenges today but I am proud of all of my players. I hope to have all of those injured become cleared soon so we can come back solid next week!" said head coach Abe Tizaf.
