Men's Soccer Defeats Eureka 6-0 in Labor Day Win

EUREKA, Ill. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Men's Soccer Team continued their impressive start to the 2019 season with a 6-0 win over Eureka College. The men move to 2-0 on the season as they enjoy a dominant start to the season.

The Highlights

  • Sophomore Fransisco Mancilla (1) got the ball rolling with his first goal of the season in the 12th minute before freshman Omar Nabilsi (2) scored just 4 ½ minutes later.
  • Freshman Edson Alvarado, with an assist from Mancilla, brought the score to 3-0 at 50:43 with his first goal of the night
  • Ismael Fletes and Luis Botello both recorded goals in the 2nd half for the Pomeroys before Alvarado tallied the final goal of the night at 88:12.

By the Numbers

  • SMWC recorded 25 shots, 20 on-goal
  • Freshman Omar Nabilsi led all players with 6 shots, 5 on-goal
  • Freshman John Aguirre was shown a late yellow card in the 77th minute.

The Men's team will look to continue their success when they host Cincinnati Christian University in the SMWC home opener on September 7th, at 2:00 P.M. EST.
