SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's soccer team (10-4-1) settled for a tie with Oakland City University (4-10-2) this afternoon as both teams fought tooth and nail, with the match coming down to the very last second. The back and forth affair was chippy at times, with multiple yellow cards shown, as both teams fought to pull out a win.

- Omar Abdallah Nabilsi (unassisted) | 61:31
- Omar Abdallah Nabilsi (Jose Parra) | 89:16
How It Happened
1st Half: Oakland City struck first when Ian Fierro moved past defenders and was able to net a lower-left corner goal to stun SMWC early (4'). The Woods regrouped and got their head in the game to play smart defense throughout the first half and finish with a 1-0 deficit going into the half.
2nd Half: The Pomeroys came out firing as Edson Alvarado equalized off a beautiful pass from Omar Abdallah Nabilsi (54'). Then, after finding some holes in the Oakland City defense, Omar put the Woods ahead on an unassisted goal just 8 minutes later (62'). Omar was shown a yellow card (75') later as discrepancies over officiating boiled over for both teams. With SMWC leading, OCU's Luis Perez stunned with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute to tie the match and then Oakland City went ahead 3-2 on a goal from Martin Albornoz (88') in the final minutes of the game. The Pomeroy's chances seemed bleak until a perfect through ball from Jose Parra set Omar Abdallah Nabilsi up in front of the goal to tie the game in the 90'.
OT/2OT: Overtime saw a lot of action and fatigue was clear for both teams, but neither could pull out the win and would have to settle for a tie.
The men's team will play their final match of the season when they host Grace Christian University this Saturday, October 26th. The first kick is at 4:00 p.m. ET.
