Jaynard Keys will enter his second season as an assistant coach for the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's track and field teams, working primarily with the Pomeroy sprinters and hurdlers.
Keys is no stranger to understanding what it takes to become a successful student-athlete as he successfully competed for the Indiana State University track and field team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and is currently pursuing his Master's degree at ISU.
On the track, he helped lead the Sycamores to a 2014 Outdoor MVC Championship, placing fifth place in the 100-M Dash, and fourth place with his teammates in the 100-M Relay. In 2015, Keys led his team to an Indoor MVC Championship after he scored in both the 60-M Dash and 200-M Dash. In his career, a few of his best times include a 100-M Dash (10.50), 60-M Dash (6.8), and a 200-M Dash (21.3).
His favorite inspirational quote is: "Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence…If you’re in control, they’re in control.” by Tom Landry.
Keys was born in Hammond, Louisiana, before moving to Indianapolis. He graduated from Perry Meridiana High School and was an IHSAA Track & Field state qualifier.
