TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College softball team improved to 9-0 on Thursday with a 10-1 win over Fisher and a 4-1 victory over Judson.
The Pomeroys started the day off with a 10-1 victory over Fisher College. Junior Emma Riffe led the Pomeroys at the plate with a 3-for-5 performance and five RBI's. The Pomeroys recorded five doubles on nine hits for the game. Sophomore Stephanie Richardson grabbed her third win of the season going all seven innings and striking out eight batters.
The second game of the day was a 4-1 victory over Judson. The Pomeroys improved to 9-0 thanks to two innings at the plate and strong pitching from senior Sarah Burnham. SMWC scored two runs in the bottom of the third off of an RBI single by Burnham that scored Riffe and freshman Kindra Gingerich. Then SMWC scored its final two runs in the bottom of the sixth off a single by senior Kimberly Strattman that scored sophomore Kerri Schrock and freshman Mariah Stout. Burnham earned her fourth win of the season after striking out six batters in seven innings.
The Pomeroys look to stay perfect on the season as they take on Judson on Friday for their final game in Florida.
