SMWC's Offensive Attack Too Much to Handle for the Beavers

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- The SMWC women's basketball team traveled to Blackburn College tonight at 7:00 p.m. EST. The Pomeroys were victorious and won by the score 95-87. The Woods has won four out of their last five contests.


SMWC knocked down four first-quarter three-point baskets and shot the ball 40.9% from the field. While the defense forced five turnovers which helped earn a 22-21 lead entering the second quarter. At halftime, the Beavers led 44-43, despite the Pomeroys leading in the rebound category. In the third, the Woods defense stepped up and forced 13 turnovers which carried them to a 66-62 lead. In the fourth, the SMWC offense lit it up as they went 56.3% from the field, 50.0% from beyond the arc and 87.5% from the charity stripe. The potent offense finish earned the Pomeroys the 95-87 victory!

The Pomeroys next contest is on Friday, February 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST against Wright State-Lake Campus.
