Pomeroys Fall to Mount Mercy at CCSJ Invite

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (SMWC) soccer team fell to Mount Mercy during Sunday's consolation game at the Calumet College of St. Joseph Invite. The Pomeroys were outscored 2-1 and now sit at 0-2 on the year.

All of the scoring came in the first 16 minutes of play with Mount Mercy getting on the board first in the 14th minute. An own goal by Mount Mercy knotted everything in the 15th minute, but then Mount Mercy responded just 30 seconds later to take the 2-1 lead.

Junior Georgie Macy recorded 10 saves , while sophomore Katia Orozco recorded SMWC's only shot on goal. At the conclusion of the CCSJ Invite, senior Katy Kniola was named to the All-Invite Team. 

The Pomeroys will be back in action on September 12, when they host Cincinnati Clermont in the 2015 home opener. The match will feature LIVE video and stats via SMWCPOMEROYS.com
