Pomeroys Fall to Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College soccer team fell to Hanover College on Saturday, 7-1. The Pomeroys now sit at 1-5 on the year.

The Pomeroys fell behind early as Hanover tallied three goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Junior Jordan Bray then got the Pomeroys on the scoreboard in the 35th minute with a shot from 25 yards out.

The Pomeroys went into the break trailing 3-1. Hanover then added four more goals in the second half as the Pomeroys fell, 7-1

The Pomeroys recorded two shots on goal, while junior Georgie Macy and sophomore Shannon Sonderman combined to record 15 saves. Macy went 73:22 in goal and made 11 saves, while Sonderman spent 16:38 in goal and made four saves.

The Pomeroys will be back in action on September 30, when they host Rose-Hulman in a 5 p.m. start at SMWC.
